โฆwhere gratitude, good company, and an unexpected snowstorm brought everyone a little closer.
Thereโs something magical about hosting families during Thanksgivingโฆthe laughter echoing down the hallways, the smell of leftovers warming in the kitchenette, kids running in and out after feeding the chickens, and parents finally taking a breath after a long year.
This past week at ๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ซ ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐ง๐ง, we had the joy of welcoming families who were visiting loved ones, gathering for the holiday, and just soaking in the quiet country atmosphere. And then, because Mother Nature loves to add her own touch. The kind of storm where the sky doesnโt take a breakโฆwhere flakes fall steady and softโฆwhere everything becomes quiet and still.
Even though the weather changed plans, it didnโt dampen anyoneโs spirits. If anything, it added another layer of meaning to the whole weekend.
Hosting Families for the Holiday
We had a handful of families staying with us throughout the week, all with their own traditions, their own reunions, and their own reasons for being โhome.โ The Inn was filled with the kind of gentle chaos that only Thanksgiving brings cooking in the kitchenettes, sharing leftovers, meeting up with relatives, and sneaking outside to see the animals or grab a breath of fresh cold air.
Every guest brought something warm to the buildingโฆkindness, humor, stories, or simply the joy of being reunited with loved ones. It felt like hosting extended family all week long. As it always does.
Then the Snow Rolled Inโฆ
As the storm warnings became more serious, I reached out to each group to make sure they felt safe and prepared. Some decided to stay another night. Others chose to leave early to beat the storm, hoping to get ahead of the weather for their long drives home.
Everyone handled the changes with so much patience and grace.
One family left in the evening to make the long drive back to Kentucky before the roads got too heavy. Another packed up after an early dinner with relatives so they could load the car and their doggies before the storm hit.
And no matter which choice they made, every guest left with the same wordsโฆthat their stay was peaceful, quiet, comfortable, and exactly what they needed for the holiday.
As a host, hearing that means everything.
The Sweetest Part of the Weekend
Even with snow on the way, families kept telling me how much they appreciated the hospitality, the inn's quietness, and the unique charm of staying somewhere that feels truly cared for.
Some mentioned theyโll be returning every time theyโre in the area. Others left already planning when theyโll be back. The compliments, the thank-youโs, and the kindness from every guest were genuinely touching.
Hosting isnโt just what we doโฆitโs something that pours out with hospitality. And weekends like this remind us exactly why.
Grateful Hearts & Snow-Filled Memories
Even though everyone left a little earlier than planned, Thanksgiving week still felt full. Full of warmth, connection, gratitude, and the simple joy of having people choose our inn as their home for the holiday.
The snowstorm became just another part of the storyโฆa reminder that sometimes the most memorable weekends are the ones that donโt go exactly as expected.
